Pattie grew up in Ohio. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Bowling Green State University in 1977. In 1978, she went to work for Ohio Bell. She transferred to Mountain Bell and moved to Arizona in 1979. She moved to New Jersey with her soon to be husband in 1987. In 1995, she earned her Master of Arts degree in corporate communications from Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey while working full-time in New York City. They moved back to Arizona in 1997.
Pattie worked for AT&T and other associated communication companies for 25 years. She taught high school English for seven years before joining the firm in 2012.
Pattie and her husband, Jim Whiting, have been married for 30 years. They have a daughter and four grandchildren. They enjoy spending time together traveling and golfing. Pattie is keenly interested in animal welfare and has two rescue dogs, Louie and Lemmy, and was adopted by an outdoor cat, Mama.
